Helix · for verified prescribers

The lightweight workspace your patients already use.

Most of your patients are already coordinating with their families in Helix. When you join a patient's workspace as a verified prescriber, you see the same medication list, the same appointment timeline, and a structured message thread instead of phone tag.

How verification works

  • NPI lookup against the NPPES registry — your name must match the registry record
  • Provider taxonomy must be a prescriber-class code
  • One-time email verification + 2FA mandatory for the lifetime of the account
  • Business Associate Agreement (BAA) on file before any PHI is ingested

What you can do today

  • Read-only view of the patient's medication list, refill cadence, and adherence log
  • Structured refill workflow: review requests, mark them sent to pharmacy
  • Send a message to the patient + caregivers; replies are threaded, not lost in voicemail
  • Append clinical notes to the timeline (visible to the patient under HIPAA right-of-access)

What Helix isn't (yet)

Helix is not a certified e-prescribing network. Refill requests are coordinated; the actual prescription transmission still goes through your existing EMR / e-prescribing tool. Direct integration with certified networks (Surescripts, etc.) is on the roadmap but not live.

Compliance posture

Orvica operates as a HIPAA business associate to provider organizations using Helix with PHI. Standard BAA terms cover use and disclosure, breach notification (72-hour SLA), subcontractor obligations, and return/destruction of PHI on termination. See the NPP, security policy, and trust center for full detail.
